The village of Gargazzone known for its untouched nature and abundance of waters is set amidst the orchards and pastures of the Adige Valley on top of the moraine hill of the Aschlerbach stream. Despite its convenient and idyllic location in the South of the spa town of Merano and north of the capital Bolzano, Gargazzone and its adjacent villages are not a hotspot for the usual tourist flows. Instead the region focuses on fruit-growing, craftsmanship and quality tourism

Gargazzone
The image of the village is dominated by two listed churches: Saint John's Church which was already officially documented in 1337 and the Parish Church of the Sacred Heart dating from the early 19 hundreds. Above the village and along the slope of the Monzoccolo Mountain, beautiful walking trails lead visitors to a high Medieval watch tower, the Kröllturm, that is also depicted in Gargazzone's coat of arms. In the background stretch the giant waterfalls of Gargazzone that can be seen from afar.
Thanks to its central location the village is an excellent starting point for holiday destinations that can be easily reached on foot or by bike but also for short day trips by car or motor bike. During the past years Gargazzone has put a lot of effort in promoting its image as a close-to-nature wellness resort. So apart from several natural and cultural sites the municipality near the Aschlerbach stream is home to a hotel that operates according to the strictest environmental guidelines. Gargazzone offers a natural swimming pool, playgrounds, recreation and relaxation facilities as well as many possibilities for an active holiday.
In addition to that Gargazon owns the first natural swimming pool in Western South Tyrol and one of the biggest playgrounds in the country.
