Foiana – climatic health resort

Framed by vineyards, chestnut groves and fruit orchards lies Foiana, a climatic health resort at an altitude of 700 m above sea level. Its favourable geographic and climatic location make this holiday resort above Lana the ideal location for hiking, Nordic walking and mountain-biking tours. Foiana also offers breathtaking views across the Adige Valley up to the Rosengarten Mountain in the Dolomites. Hikes will take you past castles and ruins, and traditional and characteristic farmsteads, across pastures and forests, through ravines and over mountain tops.

The local scenery of this busy little village features forests, pastures, fragrant apple orchards and vineyards. Along the hiking trails there are numerous restaurants and inns with spectacular views of the Adige Valley. Foiana is famous for its chestnut groves, where Tyroleans welcome the golden days of autumn with a companionable 'Törggelen', the traditional open-air meal to celebrate the season. The climatic health resort also features a Farmers' Museum, which opened its doors in 1977, and which is open to visitors between March and October. The museum is dedicated to documenting the living conditions and harsh reality of the rural population of Tyrolean mountain villages in the olden times.
